In March 1905, a small group of local businessmen saw a need in High Point for a local bank that could help finance the many small companies that were starting in the small town. They soon organized the High Point Savings and Trust Company, selling shares of stock for $25 each. In six months they were ready to begin formal operations; the bank opened for business in September 1905.

High Point Savings and Trust Company grew rapidly along with High Point itself, as North Carolina furniture and textiles gained national prominence. In 1962 the High Point Savings and Trust Company officially changed its name to High Point Bank and Trust Company. In 1990 the corporation was reorganized and the bank became a wholly owned subsidiary of the High Point Bank Corporation.

After 100 years of serving the greater High Point community, the bank chose Kernersville as its first expansion outside the Furniture Capital, opening a branch in that city 2007. A loan production office was opened in Greensboro that same year, and in 2009 a retail branch was opened on New Garden Road in Greensboro.

High Point Bank has nine full-service branches, plus a Commercial Office in both Greensboro and Winston-Salem. The newest full-service branch opened in Winston-Salem in September 2013. The Bank’s assets as of December 31, 2013 were in excess of $828 million, an increase from 2012.

The Trust and Investment Advisors division offers trust and estate planning, investment management for individuals and businesses, and retirement services for the region’s companies and employees.
