Ixonia Bank was first formed on April 11, 1917, when a group of businessmen in the Ixonia area decided to organize a new bank with $10,000 of capital. The bank was first called Ixonia State Bank. Ixonia State Bank's first building was built in 1918 in the heart of Ixonia, on a lot not far from where the Ixonia branch is now located. In 1954, the bank bought land and construction on a new building began the following year. When the new bank building officially opened on January 1, 1956, the Bank, consisting of only 8 employees, was proud to offer its customers the first drive-up window in Jefferson County.
In 1976, the Bank remodeled and expanded its Ixonia office. An additional 4,000 square feet was added, and more notably, air conditioning was added. The bank at this time had 19 employees.
In the 1990s, Ixonia State Bank added 3 branches: Watertown-Oakridge Court in 1990, Oconomowoc-Summit Avenue in 1994, and Watertown-Church Street in 1997. In the 2000s, the bank added the Dousman-Main Street branch in 2001. In 2003, the bank changed its name to ISB Community Bank. The newest branch, Hartland-Village Square Drive, was added in 2008.
Due to strong and continuous growth in their local communities, ISB Community Bank moved into its new Ixonia home in the early fall of 2007, just a few blocks from its previous location. It is anticipated this new and current building will be "home" for the next 50 years. In the spring of 2013, ISB Community Bank returned to its roots and renamed itself as Ixonia Bank. Ixonia Bank is a unique name that has historically connoted strength and soundness.
