NexTier Bank, formerly Citizens National Bank of Evans City, was founded in 1878 in Evans City, originally known as Evansburg. Originally named the J & E Dambach Bank, Edward Dambach founded this private bank located on Main Street in Evansburg. Edward Dambach brought with him S. J. Irvine, Sr., to operate the bank. The bank continued as a private organization until 1893 when Edward Dambach, John Rohner, and S. J. Irvine, Sr., applied for and received a state charter. On December 11, 1893, the bank held its first official stockholder meeting and the bank's name was changed to The Citizens Bank of Evansburg.

In October of 2005, Citizens National Bank of Evans City changed names to NexTier. NexTier is one of few banks that can stand behind its original message of being Locally Owned And Locally Operated. Today, Margaret Irvine Weir, a fourth generation of the Irvine family, is President, and Don Shamey is the CEO.

Continuing the tradition of family ownership and values, the Snyder Group, a family-owned business, invested in NexTier as a majority shareholder in April 2011. NexTier’s 160 associates continue to carry out the mission of the bank's founders to serve the financial needs of the people of Butler County.

Since our founding in 1878, NexTier Bank has worked with individuals, families, organizations and businesses in the region to help contribute to economic growth and community enrichment. NexTier Bank's retail locations include 15 branch offices in northern Allegheny, Butler and Armstrong counties in western Pennsylvania, north of Pittsburgh.
