The State Bank of Norway was chartered on June 12, 1901, when the city was a booming mining town. Two years later, the bank's state charter was converted and its name was changed to First National Bank of Norway. In 1993, the bank built a new 9,000-square-foot main office at 501 West U.S. Hwy 2, on the city of Norway’s west side. Four years later, The First National Bank of Norway opened a full service grocery-store branch office in the downtown area at Ebeling's Supermarket, 531 Main Street. In 2001, the bank has explanded into Iron Mountain with its second branch at 1917 N. Stephenson Avenue. The First National Bank of Norway is the hometown, independent, community bank.
