Scott Valley Bank, now a twelve-branch operation with assets totaling over $500 million, began as a small, independent venture during the gold rush of the 1850s.
Many were the changes in store for Scott Valley Bank during the 1970s and 1980s. In 1978, the head office of Scott Valley Bank moved to the Yreka branch location on Broadway Street in Yreka. Scott Valley Bank was given final approval for the acquisition of the Mt. Shasta office of the North Valley Bank in October 1985 and the new Scott Valley Bank branch office opened for business on Nov. 18, 1985. As the climate for growth continued, Scott Valley Bank extended beyond Siskiyou County in 1990 when it opened a branch office in Redding.
Further growth occurred in 1994 with the opening of a Loan Production Office in Walnut Creek. 1996 saw the addition of three more branches: Shingletown, the change-over to a full-service branch in Walnut Creek, the addition of a branch in Weed on August 26, 1996. In addition, a Loan Production Office was opened in Medford, Oregon in 1999.
Weaverville was the next branch. In September 2000, North Valley Bank Corp. agreed to sell its acquired Six Rivers National Bank Weaverville branch. The sale included “all associated deposits and loans, amounting to $17 million in deposits and $800,000 in loans.
In 2003, a branch opened in Oakland and in 2007 a branch opened in Santa Clara to service growing commercial banking markets in the Bay Area. In May of 2011, the Scott Valley Bank Medford, Oregon Loan Production office was converted to a full service business bank, thus becoming the first Scott Valley Bank branch in the State of Oregon.
The Bank plays an integral part in regional economy and culture, both through commercial and retail banking services and through community involvement.
