The Farmers Bank preceded The Bank of Fincastle in serving area residents. Farmers Bank began serving the public in 1856. Unfortunately, with the beginning of the War Between the States in 1861, Farmers Bank converted its assets to Confederate securities. In 1865, after Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomattox, its Confederate assets became worthless. The Farmers Bank, like other Virginia banks, was forced to discontinue operations.
The Bank of Fincastle has operated to satisfy its customers for over 135 years and plans to continue in an efficient and courteous manner, as a full service bank, for the next 135 years.
The Bank of Fincastle is a privately held local community bank dedicated to serving the banking needs of the communities in which we serve. Established in 1875, The Bank of Fincastle is Botetourt County's Oldest Bank serving the community for over 138 years. Banking staff offers a high level of personalized service to all of our banking clients. The Bank of Fincastle Board of Directors recently declared a 5 for 1 stock split effective June 1, 2013 for shareholders on record as of May 1, 2013.
