The Citizens Bank of Winfield is located in Winfield, Alabama. The Citizens Bank of Winfield was established and opened for business in May 1920. Mr. A. M. Grimsley started the bank and Dr. Robert Leroy Hill acquired controlling interest and became President in 1935. After his death in 1959, his son, Ivan K. Hill became President and Chairman of the Board. Today, as the bank continues to grow.
In 1979, William Russell Carothers II became President with Ivan remaining Chairman of the Board until his death in 1989. Russell was named President, CEO and Chairman of the Board of The Citizens Bank of Winfield in 1990. Chris H. Carothers was named President of the bank in 2010 with Russell remaining CEO and Chairman of the Board.
With total assets in 1963 at $3 million, the bank has grown to a total of over $200 million in assets today. The Citizens Bank serves a five county area including Marion, Walker, Winston, Lamar and Fayette counties.
