From the time The Farmers and Merchants Bank was first organized in 1912, it has remained independently owned and operated. As a result, all banking decisions have been made at home and will continue to be made here. Over the past one hundred years, the bank has generously donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the community. Throughout the years, the bank has supported numerous area causes and events helping them reach their goals and fulfill their needs. Several years ago the bank employees got more involved and they formed an Employee Fund Raiser Committee. Each year the committee chooses the group or "cause" they are working for and hold fund raising events throughout the year. Then they donate all the proceeds to that year's designated group. The Employee Fund Raiser Committee has generously donated to help the area sporting programs, Relay for Life, the Happy Time Pool, area Volunteer Fire Departments, etc.
