North Salem State Bank (NSSB) is a locally owned, community bank located in North Salem, Indiana with 5 branch locations. NSSB was founded in 1923 and is committed to providing its customers and its communities quality products and quality service through a dedicated and professional staff, while enhancing shareholder value.
NSSB began expanding its market area in 1989, with the opening of first branch location in Danville, Indiana. That remained the only branch until 1995, when the bank opened its third location in the Danville Kroger. North Salem State Bank was one of the first community banks in the area to try this type of supermarket facility. In 1996, NSSB expanded into two other areas of west central Indiana. In Greencastle, North Salem State Bank opened second supermarket facility in addition to acquiring a small banking facility from National City Bank in Waveland.
With the steady growth over the years, NSSB opened a new full-service branch in Greencastle in 2007, replacing the supermarket office that had become too small for the bank’s volume. In 2010, North Salem State Bank announced the opening of a second full-service branch in Danville, located on Old 36 just west of the Hendricks County Fairgrounds. Plans are now in the works to open a sixth location in Lebanon in 2013.
