Terms and Definitions

• Domestic deposits

  The sum of all domestic deposits, including demand deposits, money market deposits and time deposits.
• Equity capital

  Total equity capital (includes preferred and common stock, surplus and undivided profits).
• ROA

  Return on assets, net income after taxes and extraordinary items (annualized) as a percent of average total assets.
• ROE

  Return on equity, annualized net income as a percent of average equity on a consolidated basis.

In 1915, Hansell Savings Bank granted a charter by the State of Iowa. In 1935, Sheffield businessmen purchase Hansell Savings Bank and relocate its charter to Sheffield and change its name to Sheffield Savings Bank; Hansell and Dougherty become offices. In 1993, Farmers State Bank of Dows merges with Sheffield Savings Bank; the bank’s name is changed to United Bank & Trust Company.

United Bank and Trust Company essentially is the only bank in the county to have provided a century of service and today the bank proudly serves the communities of Hampton, Alden, Dows, Dougherty, and Sheffield.
